When Lambchop’s Nixon came out I was suitably impressed. Particular high points were the falsetto bits and the strength of the song writing. That’s the moment Kurt Wagner won me over.
If you don’t know Lambchop, they’re from Nashville, Tennessee, and their songs meander along the banks of alt. country taking in the sights of post-rock, soul, and lounge. Their follow-up was Is A Woman. Here again Wagner, chief protagonist and songsmith, hooked me with his devilishly infectious rouge. On the limited edition of this album was a cover version of Sisters Of Mercy’s This Corrosion. Best consumed through earphones.
